ODIEC clears 10 political parties ahead of Ondo LG polls

Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC, has disclosed that 10 political parties have expressed intent to participate in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to take place in February 2024.

In a press statement issued by Mr. Tunde Adeleye, the Commissioner in charge of Communication, Publicity, and ICT, on behalf of the Commission, confirmed that a deadline had been set for political parties to submit their list of candidates for the polls.

According to the statement, out of all the political parties, 10 have duly complied with the directive and have submitted their candidates’ list to ODIEC within the stipulated timeframe.

Adeleye emphasized that ODIEC has fulfilled its statutory obligations by promptly publishing the list and personal information of the candidates running for the positions of Councilor’s.

“To ensure transparency and accessibility, this information has been prominently displayed in all 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) at the local government offices of ODIEC.”

He added that the publication of the candidates’ details serves as a crucial step towards promoting openness and providing voters with the necessary information to make informed decisions during the elections.

“By making this information readily available, ODIEC aims to encourage an inclusive democratic process and enhance public participation in the forthcoming Local Government elections.”
