Messi Set to Sit Out Three Inter Miami Matches Due to International Call-Up

Argentine superstar and Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, will be absent from three upcoming matches for his club in September. This absence is due to his commitment to represent the Argentine national team in the World Cup qualifiers, which are set to begin next week.

This announcement was made by Inter Miami manager, Tata Martino, in a post-match interview following their 2-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.

The matches that Messi will miss are against LAFC, Sporting KC, Atlanta United, Toronto, Orlando City, and Houston Dynamo—all taking place in September.

Speaking to the press after the win against the New York Red Bulls, Martino stated (as reported by Favian Renkel), “Lionel Messi is going to miss at least three games as he has been called up for the national team.”

In September, Argentina will face off against Ecuador and Bolivia, followed by matches against Paraguay and Peru in October. Messi’s participation in these games is virtually guaranteed.
