In the midst of late interest from Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed his belief that Mohamed Salah will not leave the Premier League in the final week of the transfer window.
In a previous statement, Carragher had stated that Liverpool would only be tempted by an offer above £150 million for the Egyptian forward. However, Carragher now cites the limited time available to reinvest in the squad as a major factor in Salah’s likelihood of staying at Anfield.
“I don’t think Mo Salah will go. One of the reasons being that it’s so late in the window. Additionally, I don’t believe Salah will have the intention to leave,” Carragher explained.
Drawing comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo, Carragher envisions Salah continuing to perform at the highest level in his late thirties.
“I think Salah will be a little bit like Ronaldo. I can see him playing until his late 30s. He will believe he has another three or four years left at the peak of his career. As of now, he still has two years left on his contract with Liverpool, but whether he will stay beyond that remains uncertain,” Carragher added.
