Ebonyi Airport Thrives Unaffected by Sit-at-Home Order, Assures Commissioner Obichukwu

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Aviation and Technology, Ngozi Obichukwu, emphatically stated that there is no sit-at-home order in Ebonyi that could impede or disrupt airport activities and flight operations in the state.

Obichukwu made these clarifications while addressing journalists at the Chuba Okadigbo’s Airport in Onueke, Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State.

She reassured the public that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru, has taken comprehensive security measures at the airport to safeguard all travelers within the state.

The Commissioner further shared that international airlines have commenced operations at the airport, emphasizing Ebonyi State’s position as the most secure state for travelers.

Pointing out the strategic significance and proximity of the Chuba Okadigbo’s Airport to Cameroon and the Trans-Saharan borders, she highlighted that the airport’s presence poses a potential challenge to other airports in the Southeast region.

According to Obichukwu, “The airport’s status and popularity have escalated, buoyed by the complete disregard for the sit-at-home order within the state. Consequently, this development has ignited significant interest from neighboring states such as Ogoja, Ikom, Okigwe, and Enugu, where individuals can conduct business without being constrained by the sit-at-home directive.”

Addressing the concerns and dispelling rumors, she urged travelers to dismiss the notion that the sit-at-home order would hinder their ability to fly out from Ebonyi State.

“The Ebonyi airport presents a substantial challenge to numerous airports in the South East region due to its strategic location. People from various regions will be flocking here, primarily because there are no sit-at-home restrictions,” Obichukwu affirmed.

Highlighting the airport’s international classification and its convenient Trans-Saharan route, she stressed that the facility provides unhindered access for investors, students, and locals to engage in their regular activities.
