I Talk to Plants and Trees, Reveals Singer Joeboy

In a recent interview on the Zero Conditions podcast, popular Nigerian singer Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, better known as Joeboy, opened up about his unique connection with nature. The ‘Baby’ crooner disclosed that he engages in conversations with plants and trees, considering it an essential part of his spirituality.

Joeboy confessed to having four plants in his room, each with its own name: Anthony, Themal, Raphael, and Vanessa. He expressed his fondness for nature and shared that he talks to his plants, using them as a sounding board for his emotions and thoughts.

When asked about the significance of his tree tattoos, the singer explained that it represents his love for the natural world and serves as a constant reminder of his connection to it.

Reflecting on the importance of spirituality in his life, Joeboy emphasized its role as a vital source of support. He stated, “You need a spiritual backing. It is very, very important. If you don’t practice jazz [voodoo], you have to pray.”

Joeboy’s unconventional practice of talking to plants and embracing nature offers a contemplative and peaceful alternative to human interaction. He believes that conversing with plants fosters a deeper understanding of oneself and promotes a greater sense of well-being.
