Kano Anti-Graft Boss Vows to Defy Blackmail Attempts

Muhuyi Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), has made it clear that the commission will not yield to blackmail or smear campaigns in its pursuit of justice.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Rimingado emphasized that the fight against corruption is in the best interest of the state and that the commission remains committed to delivering its services in accordance with the law.

Rimingado accused certain corrupt public officials in the state of orchestrating these smear campaigns as a means to protect themselves. He cited an incident where a law firm, defending a case involving a N4 billion fraud, petitioned the Inspector-General of Police to withdraw police personnel assigned to the commission.

“The recent intimidation and smear campaigns against the commission are the tactics of individuals with skeletons in their closets,” Rimingado said.

“We will not resort to underhanded methods, but rather, we will strictly adhere to the Rule of Law. We are fully committed to eradicating corruption among public officers in the state,” he added.

The anti-graft boss assured the public that the commission would continue to demonstrate unwavering political will and commitment in its fight against corruption in Kano State. Additionally, Rimingado pledged to recover public funds embezzled and stashed away in private pockets.
