The Adamawa State Government has recently acquired 10 state-of-the-art shuttle buses, costing a total of N1.06 billion, as part of its fuel subsidy removal palliative programme. This initiative aims to provide relief to the people of Adamawa State.
In addition to the buses, the government has also placed orders for trucks carrying rice, maize, and other essential items for distribution at significantly subsidized prices.
The committee responsible for the palliative programme announced this development on Monday. They confirmed that a portion of the rice has already been received, while the remaining items are expected to arrive soon.
At an event held at the Government House in Yola, Awwal Tukur, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the palliative committee, provided a comprehensive overview of the programme. He explained that the intervention would cover various aspects, including transportation and subsidized food and non-food items, benefiting all 266 wards in the state.
In order to alleviate the challenges faced by civil servants, students, and the general public, the state government procured 10 Innoson shuttle buses. These buses will greatly improve transportation within the state.
Tukur stated, “To ensure comprehensive coverage, the distribution of the palliatives will be carried out on a ward basis, with regions having a high number of wards receiving more support.”
