The people of Southern Kaduna have expressed their grievances regarding alleged marginalisation in state and federal appointments. They are now urging for the next ministerial appointment from Kaduna State to be allotted to their region.
During a press conference held in Kaduna on Monday, Yusuf Kanhu, the national coordinator of the Southern Kaduna Renewed Hope Movement of Nigeria, highlighted the severe marginalisation faced by the Southern Kaduna region over the past eight years, especially under the governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kanhu stated, “The Southern Kaduna people under the aegis of Southern Kaduna Renewed Hope Movement of Nigeria decry the ongoing marginalisation faced by the southern region within the governance of Kaduna State.”
He emphasized that during the previous administration of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, there was a noticeable disparity in political appointments and campaigns, resulting in an imbalanced representation of the Southern Kaduna region.
The movement further expressed concern that the introduction of the Muslim-Muslim ticket deepened the divisions, further relegating the Christians and Muslims of Southern Kaduna to deputy positions or roles of lesser influence.
Kanhu called for the equitable distribution of appointments to the southern part of the state, urging Governor Uba Sani to ensure fairness for both Christian and Muslim communities in the area.
