Governor Mutfwang Voices Concern over Collapse of Shendam Bridge

In a statement released on Tuesday in Jos, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State expressed deep concern over the recent collapse of a major bridge in the Shendam Local Government Area. The governor deemed the incident unfortunate and stressed the need for urgent action.

The collapse of the bridge, which occurred on Sunday following heavy rainfall, has severed the economic link between several communities in the area. The affected communities now face temporary challenges, as the bridge was their only means of accessing their farmlands.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. Governor Mutfwang emphasized his relief while urging the impacted communities to utilize the diversion routes provided for temporary use.

This collapse marks yet another occurrence for the bridge, which was originally constructed in the 1970s. Governor Mutfwang highlighted the critical need for ensuring the reconstruction is executed with the highest quality standards to prevent future incidents.

During his address, the governor also stressed the urgency of incorporating best practices in the execution of all government contracts. He emphasized the importance of delivering value-added services to Nigerians, especially within rural communities.

Assuring the people of Shendam, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promptly reconstruct the bridge. The aim is to restore normalcy to their personal and economic activities.

“The government is diligently working to address this predicament,” Governor Mutfwang assured.

Additionally, the governor urged the residents of Plateau State to remain vigilant in the face of flood predictions in certain parts of the state.
