The government of Kano State in the northwestern part of Nigeria has announced a 50% reduction in registration fees for state-owned tertiary institutions for residents of the state.
During an interactive session with journalists in Kano, Dr. Yusuf Kofar Mata, the Commissioner for Higher Education, shared that the government arrived at this decision after taking into account the economic challenges stemming from the removal of fuel subsidies on June 1, 2023.
The reduction will take effect from the 2023/2024 academic session and will apply to all regular courses offered by the state-owned tertiary institutions.
Dr. Kofar Mata said the beneficiaries are Kano indigenes studying regular courses for 2023/2024 academic session at state owned institutions, which include, Aloko Dangote University, Wudil, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano and Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.
Others are Kano state Polytechnic, Aminu Kano Collage of Islamic and Legal Studies, Audu Balo College of Agriculture Danbatta, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso College of Advance and Remidial Studies Tudun Wada and Kano State College of Education.
