The Ekiti State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof Mobolaji Aluko, has given an assurance to the residents of Ekiti State that they will have access to improved and sustainable water supply, sanitation, and hygiene.
Prof. Aluko delivered this assurance in Ado-Ekiti during his meeting with a team from the Federal Program Implementation Unit, who were on a technical support mission to the state.
He stated that the state government is already addressing the issue of erratic electricity supply, which plays a major role in ensuring the satisfactory provision of water to the residents.
Prof. Aluko emphasized that electricity is a key factor in determining the success or failure of efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water to the people.
The National Program Coordinator, Abdulhameed Gwaram, explained the purpose of their visit, stating that they aim to address critical risks and issues that may hinder efficiency and performance.
He advised implementing agencies to seek assistance from the Federal Program Implementation Unit (FPIU) and State Program Implementation Unit (SPIU) whenever necessary.
Gwaram stressed the importance of the end result, the number of beneficiaries, and the procedures that the Independent Verification Agency would follow for clearing and disbursement. He also emphasized the need for Implementing Agencies to properly document every activity carried out under the program.
