In the wake of the military coup and takeover in Niger Republic, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), led by President Bola Tinubu, has been advised to prioritize dialogue in resolving the crisis.
Prophet Sam Olu Alo, the Planter of the Christ Apostolic Church at the Adamimogo Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, emphasized the need for careful handling of the situation to avoid escalating it into a full-blown war.
Prophet Olu-Alo made these remarks during the Sure Mercy of David Prophetic Sunday, held at the Jesus City Camp in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
In light of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia and the catastrophic consequences it has brought, the cleric expressed concerns about the vulnerability of innocent people, including women, children, and defenseless youths. He stressed the importance of preventing a similar scenario in Niger.
Emphasizing the significance of dialogue, Prophet Olu-Alo stated, “No matter how long it takes to reach a compromise between the military and ECOWAS, dialogue remains the only viable solution in order to protect the innocent from the horrors of war.”
Furthermore, the prophet urged President Tinubu, in his role as the Head of the ECOWAS mission, to ensure that war is not the ultimate outcome of their intervention. He called upon Tinubu to prevent the loss of innocent lives in Niger through diplomatic means.
The prophet also highlighted the citizens’ calm response to the military intervention in Niger as a warning to other African leaders, cautioning them about the type of intervention they propose in such predicaments.
