Insecurity: Group calls for sustenance of peace in Nigeria

The Country Director, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN), Rev John Joseph Hayab has referred to as on Nigerians to collaborate with safety businesses in direction of curbing the speed of killings in elements of the nation.

“The rate of killings and destruction of property in the country is alarming, it calls for serious deliberation for the way forward,” he stated.

Speaking on Tuesday throughout a one-day dialogue for “strengthening synergy between religious leaders and security operatives in Kaduna State”, organised by Kukah Centre in collaboration of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, he stated the intention of the programme is to collect stakeholders to deliberate on points affecting safety scenario with a view of making certain restoration of peace in the State.

He stated, “Innocent people have been killed and property destroyed and we felt there is the need for us to engage religious leaders and security agencies towards finding a workable way of restoring peace for even development to take place in the State.”

He stated sensible steps needs to be taken by all stakeholders for higher understanding of each other for the restoration of peace.

The Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the State, Suleiman Shuaibu, stated the Governor was taking critical steps in direction of making certain the existence and upkeep of peace.

He assured the organisers that the doorways of the State authorities had been open to dialogue in direction of making certain peaceable coexistence.

The Programme Manager, Mr Methodius Karfe, acknowledged that the Kukah Centre would proceed to collaborate with stakeholders in direction of making certain the sustenance of peace in Kaduna State and the nation as an entire.
