Burna Boy becomes first artist to hit 1 billion streams on Boomplay

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the first artist to amass one billion streams on the digital music streaming platform, Boomplay.

He achieved the feat following the release of his seventh studio album, “I Told Them.”

A check on his Boomplay account by Media Talk Africa shows that the singer has amassed over a billion streams on the platform.

Boomplay is the largest digital music streaming platform in Africa. It was launched in 2015.

Burna Boy is also the most followed artist on the platform with over 600,000 followers.

The “African Giant” crooner is the first Nigerian artist to surpass 1 billion career streams on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Audiomack and Boomplay.
