Stop posting NYSC members to states battling banditry – Shinkafi

Former chairman of the Committee on Prosecution of Bandits Related Offences In Zamfara State, Sani Shinkafi, on Monday advised the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to stop posting corps members to some states experiencing incessant bandit attacks.

According to him, states like Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto are places the NYSC should cease deploying corps members to.

He said this in an interview on Channels Television’s breakfast programme.

Media Talk Africa recalls that two weeks ago, armed bandits abducted eight NYSC members along a highway in Zamfara.

He advised the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal to engage in a “peace dialogue” with repentant bandits, stressing that the stance taken by the administration of Lawal’s predecessor, Bello Matawalle, to dialogue with the terrorists was beneficial to securing the release of abductees in the state.

He lamented, “No place in the 14 local governments of Zamfara is safe, many people are killed, many people are kidnapped.”
