Fabeke vs Mpigi: Tribunal sets date to rule on Rivers Southeast senatorial district election

The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, will on Thursday, 7th of September, 2023 deliver judgment in the suit between the Rivers Southeast Senatorial District candidates of the Labor Party, Douglas Fabeke, Barry Mpigi of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

The three-man panel of the Tribunal announced the date through the court clerk, after the parties adopted and argued on their final written addresses.

Fabeke of the Labor Party had upon the declaration of Mpigi of the PDP, filed a suit challenging his victory and asked the court to declare him the winner of the February 25 election.

It would interest you to know that the Rivers South East Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ambassador Oji Ngofa is also challenging the victory of the candidate of the PDP, Senator Mpigi, as announced by INEC, a suit whose judgment is also near.
