A former presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has appealed to the Nigerian police to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad. This statement was issued by Olawepo-Hashim’s media office on Wednesday.
Olawepo-Hashim expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased singer, referring to him as a martyr who sacrificed himself for a cause. The tragic death of Mohbad has brought attention to the pervasive terror inflicted on society by the underworld.
As a father with a son involved in the arts and music industry, only two years older than Mohbad, Olawepo-Hashim voiced his concerns regarding the stronghold of cult leaders and drug lords on the music and entertainment scene. He emphasized the exploitation of aspiring stars from impoverished backgrounds by the wealthy and unscrupulous individuals. Moreover, he lamented the absence of a well-structured and disciplined support system for nurturing talent from underprivileged homes.
In addition to his call for an investigation, Olawepo-Hashim urged security agencies to ensure the safety of young people who are demanding justice and organizing vigils in honor of Mohbad.
