Enugu Governorship Election: Labour Party to Appeal as Tribunal Upholds Peter Mbah’s Victory

The Labour Party (LP) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the ruling of the Enugu Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Previously, the LP had raised concerns regarding the allegedly forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, over-voting, and the bypassing of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Peter Mbah.

However, the tribunal has dismissed the petitions and reaffirmed the victory of Mbah as the duly elected governor of Enugu.

In response, the Labour Party has announced its intention to challenge the tribunal ruling at the Appeal Court.

According to the party, they believe that justice was not served at the tribunal and they are determined to ensure that the judgement does not stand.

“We are deeply concerned about the decline in the integrity of our judiciary, where absurd rulings are frequently issued from the revered halls of justice,” said the party in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure.

The statement further added, “Our case before the tribunal was a clear instance of electoral theft.”
