Alloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has raised an allegation against former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that his refusal to release the Biafra agitator fueled insecurity in the Southeast region of Nigeria.
Ejimakor made this claim while expressing his disappointment that President Bola Tinubu, successor to Buhari, continued the “vicious cycle” by also refusing to release Kanu.
Ejimakor pointed out that the arrest, rendition, and detention of Kanu were all strategically orchestrated to contribute to the rising insecurity in the Southeast.
In a tweet, Ejimakor wrote: “Buhari’s rendition and detention of Nnamdi Kanu, as well as his violent suppression of dissent in the Southeast, were part of his broader agenda to fuel insecurity in Igboland.
“It is baffling that a more astute President Bola Tinubu has allowed this vicious cycle to continue by not releasing Kanu. It perpetuates a negative pattern.”
The focus on the judiciary and resorting to civil disobedience for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is due to the reluctance of Britain to exert its diplomatic influence, as it did in the attempted rendition of Umaru Dikko in 1984. Rishi Sunak, the British Chancellor, must rise to the occasion.”
