Akwa Ibom State at 36: Lawmaker Urges Upholding the Legacy of Forebears

In commemoration of the 36th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State’s creation, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, the member representing the Eket/Onna/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called on the government and the people of the state to uphold the legacy and commitment of their forebears towards the development of the state.

Emphasizing the importance of unity and peace for sustainable progress and development, Etteh urged the people of Akwa Ibom to demonstrate a renewed commitment towards unity, thereby harnessing the state’s potential and resources.

“As we reflect on the remarkable journey that has brought us to this point, a journey marked by resilience, growth, and the unwavering spirit of unity, my message to the people of Akwa Ibom is clear: peace and unity can only bring prosperity. There can be no prosperity without unity. I, therefore, urge the people of Akwa Ibom to unite as a state and harness our resources as one people,” said Etteh.

Etteh further stressed the need to remember the sacrifices and hard work of the forebears, who paved the way for the progress of Akwa Ibom State. He urged the people to take on the responsibility of carrying forward the legacy of dedication and commitment to the state’s development.

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us not forget the sacrifices and hard work of our forebears, paving the way for our progress. It is our responsibility to carry forward the legacy of their dedication and commitment to our state’s development,” Etteh emphasized.

Highlighting the collective achievements of the people, Etteh noted that Akwa Ibom State had made significant strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development. He praised the state for becoming a center of innovation and opportunity, attracting talent and investments from both local and international sources.

“Together, we have shown that when we work as one, there is no limit to what we can achieve,” concluded Etteh, encouraging the people to continue working towards a brighter future for themselves and future generations.
