My Life Under Threat Over Impeachment Proceedings – Ondo Assembly Speaker Cries Out

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has raised an alarm over alleged threats to his life amid the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the embattled deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Oladiji revealed that he has been receiving mysterious phone calls in relation to the impeachment proceedings.

Disturbingly, in the early hours of Monday, unidentified individuals went as far as placing fetish items at the gate of his official residence in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

Despite these disturbing incidents, Oladiji remains resolute, stating that lawmakers, particularly those from Ondo South senatorial district where the deputy governor hails from, have also been threatened, with warnings not to return home.

Oladiji emphasized the lawmakers’ determination to carry out their constitutional duties without succumbing to fear.

The impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor have ignited intense political turmoil within the state.

Expressing his concerns, Oladiji recounted a distressing incident: “I saw an object in front of my lodge while I was driving out this morning. I have been receiving threats of various kinds. There are calls from different people. My life has been under serious threat from unknown individuals. I have enlisted the help of a security operative to help us track down these culprits. This is a legislative assignment. They want to suppress me, but God is in control. People see me as the spearhead in removing Aiyedatiwa. My members are complaining about receiving threats. Those from the South are being threatened not to return home.”
