Police Must Cease Profiling Nigerian Youths, Says Mr Macaroni in Response to Force PRO, Adejobi

Famed Nigerian content creator and activist, Adebowale Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has issued a response to the Nigeria Police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, regarding the controversial use of an expensive smartphone by a female officer.

Last Friday, Adejobi shared a photo on his official X, featuring a female officer alongside the secretary to the Inspector General of Police IGP, DSP David Victoria.

Social media users were quick to notice the costly Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 phone held by the female officer, as well as her expensive watch. They pointed out that it would be unlikely for her to afford such luxuries on a police officer’s salary.

One X user named @Akintomide responded to Adejobi’s post, stating, “A civil servant (DSP) with a phone worth close to a million. lol. Ire o.”

Reacting to this comment, Adejobi threatened the X user to retract his statement, arguing that police officers were not paupers.

He wrote, “Police officers are not paupers. Withdraw your statement. It’s ridiculous to claim that a DSP cannot use a Samsung Fold 2. You need to think rationally and objectively. Do you understand the responsibilities of a DSP?”

In response to Adejobi’s comment, Mr Macaroni emphasized the need for the Nigerian police to stop profiling Nigerian youths based on their ownership of expensive items.

“So, the Nigerian Police don’t appreciate profiling? Well, my dear, you will appreciate this form of profiling. You will enjoy oppression. In fact, you will love extortion.

“You will also embrace intimidation and harassment because that is exactly what you subject Nigerian youths to every day.

“Nigerian youths are not paupers! Over 95% of the Nigerian Police need to retract their statements and cease profiling Nigerian youths, which we have been subjected to for years.

“It is absurd for anyone to claim that a Nigerian youth cannot use a decent phone, dress well, or drive a nice car. You and your officers must think rationally and objectively. Do you comprehend the realities of being a Nigerian youth?” he questioned.
