Labour Party Candidate, Gwamnishu, Opens Up: Struggling with Debt and Mental Health Issues

In a brave admission, Harrison Gwamnishu, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 general elections, has revealed that he is currently facing severe financial difficulties. Gwamnishu, who vied for a position in the Delta State House of Assembly, expressed that he is burdened by significant debt and is also grappling with mental instability.

Gwamnishu, a well-known human rights activist, unfortunately experienced defeat in the March 18 election. As a result of his financial obligations, he has been forced to sell some of his assets, including one of his cars, in an attempt to repay the debt.

Due to these overwhelming circumstances, Gwamnishu has decided to step back from his responsibilities as the head of a human rights team that he leads until he can resolve his financial issues.

“I want to inform you all that I am currently in serious debt and I am no longer mentally stable, which is why I recently posted about it,” Gwamnishu candidly shared.

He clarified that his debt was not the result of any fraudulent activity. Instead, it was a result of his business suffering setbacks, which can be verified. During his election campaign, some of his friends generously loaned him money, but he has struggled to repay them.

To alleviate some of his debt, Gwamnishu had to part with his car, which was gifted to him. In addition, he was compelled to sell some of his property. Despite these efforts, he has been unable to meet the repayment deadline.

Sleep has become elusive for Gwamnishu, and he expressed the heartache of being abandoned by most of his friends during this trying time. Furthermore, his father is also affected by the situation as individuals to whom Gwamnishu owes money have resorted to threatening his parents.

“Life has thrown me a curveball, and my prayer is to overcome it as soon as possible,” Gwamnishu wrote on Facebook.
