Alleged Humiliation of Igbos by Security Agents at Checkpoints in Southeast Nigeria, Says Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer

In a recent development, Aloy Ejimakor, who serves as the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the renowned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has raised concerns over the alleged mistreatment of Igbos at various checkpoints in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

Ejimakor has revealed that security agents are subjecting Igbos to humiliating experiences by forcefully removing passengers from vehicles and mandating them to traverse the checkpoints on foot.

According to him, this systematic oppression traces its origins back to the era of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

On the matter, Ejimakor made the following statement on X: “The situation in Igboland, where every passenger is compelled to disembark from vehicles and proceed on foot at security checkpoints, exemplifies the institutional humiliation and oppression faced by the Ndigbo. This degrading treatment was initiated during Buhari’s administration and unfortunately continues to this very day. It serves as a catalyst for provocation.”
