Nigerian Church Recognizes Muslim Woman for Humanitarian Efforts

The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru, has reaffirmed the church’s commitment to honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to both humanity and the nation’s development. This commitment was demonstrated during an event held on Monday in Kaduna, where Pastor Buru expressed deep appreciation and admiration for the remarkable efforts of Ramatu Tijjani in promoting peace and inter-religious tolerance within the state.

Pastor Buru highlighted Mrs. Tijjani’s tireless work in providing assistance to victims of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and ethno-religious political conflicts. He commended her for generously providing clothing and food to hundreds of Christian widows and orphans during Christmas and New Year celebrations across various churches for over a decade. Additionally, she annually distributes over 50 Christmas trees to Christians, demonstrating her commitment to fostering peace and harmony in northern Nigeria.

In recognizing Mrs. Tijjani’s pivotal role in encouraging women to participate in peace-building efforts and promoting forgiveness and tolerance among members of different faith-based organizations in the country, Pastor Buru emphasized her unwavering dedication to serving humanity. He also acknowledged her positive impact on the lives of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and prison inmates through the distribution of educational materials in camps and prisons.

Mrs. Tijjani, who serves as the National President of the Foundation for the Protection of Women and Children in Nigeria and is a peace ambassador, graciously accepted the honor. She expressed her gratitude, noting that it was the first time she had received such recognition from a church. Reflecting on her 10 years of assisting women and children in IDP camps through various humanitarian initiatives, she underscored the significance of this award, as it symbolizes appreciation for her multifaceted services to humanity.

In conclusion, she called upon affluent individuals to extend their assistance to the less fortunate, particularly during times of hardship.
