NERC begins investigation into electrocution of four persons in Taraba

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission says it has commenced investigation into the tragic death of four family members by electrocution in the Dinyavo area of Jalingo Taraba State.

NERC disclosed this in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the fatal electrocution was reported on Monday.

It was gathered that only the youngest child survived the electrocution unharmed.

Reacting to the incident, NERC sympathized with the deceased’s family members and the affected community.

The commission said it had constituted an Accident Investigation Team, and the members are currently on their way to the incident scene.

“NERC extends its utmost condolences to the family members and community affected by this terrible loss whilst reassuring the public that the matter shall be investigated thoroughly to identify the immediate and remote causative.

“NERC has reached out to the distribution licensee, Yola Electricity Distribution PLC, responsible for the service in the area, and their executive management is currently investigating the accident. NERC has also constituted an accident investigation Team, AIT, and members are currently on their way to the accident scene to conduct regular investigations”, it stated.
