Taraba guber: NNPP’s Yahaya to appeal tribunal ruling

The Taraba State New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, governorship candidate in the 2023 guber election, Professor Sani Yahaya, has said that he and his party will appeal the judgement of the election petitions tribunal.

The tribunal last week struck out the petition filed against the incumbent Governor of the state, Dr Agbu Kefas, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Yahaya and the leadership of the NNPP had filed a petition to the state election petition tribunal challenging the governor’s victory on the grounds that irregularities marred the election.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the judgement in a media parley on Wednesday in Jalingo, the state capital, he said he and his party had concluded plans to challenge the judgement in the Appeal Court that will be sitting in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

He said, “We strongly disagree with the tribunal’s decision. Our team has found evidence of election irregularities, which we believe had a significant impact on the final results.”

He vowed not to rest until justice was dispensed accordingly.

Governor Kefas and his deputy, Senator Haruna Manu, had invited Yahaya and the NNPP to accept the tribunal ruling to save the state’s hard-earned resources, urging the aggrieved candidates to join hands to catapult the state to greater heights.
