Insurgency: UNDP, others to partner Yobe govt in resettling displaced community

The United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, has pledged to partner the Yobe State authorities to resettle the Malumdunari community displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Mr Mohamed Yahya, who’s the UNDP Resident Representative in Nigeria, gave the peace of mind on Wednesday when he toured the ruins of Malumdunari village, in Gujba Local Government Area of the State.

In a press release signed by Governor Buni’s media aide, Mamman Mohammed, he indicated that the Resident Representative expressed delight with the willingness of the displaced individuals to return to their community.

“The UNDP, UN and other members of the international community will take this up to support the Yobe State government for the people to return to their community with dignity.

“We hope that in about a year, the people can sing the welcome back home song, the way we did in Nganaram,” Yahya stated.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, in the assertion additionally stated Malumdunari is the one displaced community but to resettle after the return of peace and safety following the Boko Haram insurgency disaster.

He defined that the state authorities would work with the event companions to rebuild the community destroyed by the insurgency.

“We are happy with the improved security in the state and the willingness of the people to go back to their community with dignity”, Buni stated.

Similarly, the consultant of the federal government of Switzerland, Mr Nicolas Mart stated the go to had offered him with the chance to see issues for himself and to assess areas of intervention.
