Conduct special operations against kidnappers – Senate tells security agencies

The Senate has referred to as on security agencies in Nigeria to conduct special operations to dislodge suspected bandits from the North West and different components of the nation.

Presenting the movement, Yar’Adua raised some issues over the kidnap of 5 feminine college students of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State at their hostel on Oct. 4.

He stated that about 24 college students of the Federal University of Gusau had been additionally kidnapped just lately.

“Sixteen of them have been successfully freed after three days after a rescue operation by security agencies,” he stated.

Yar’Adua stated that the kidnapping had thrown the college communities within the zone to a panic temper.

He stated there was additionally the case of eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who had been kidnapped by suspected terrorists on their option to camp in Zamfara on Aug. 21.

“The NYSC corps members were traveling in an Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom to Sokoto State, for the one-year mandatory national service, when their vehicle was intercepted by the terrorists,”he stated.

He stated that the frequency of kidnapping for ransom had elevated in main cities and communities within the North West.

The Senate directed its Committee on Legislative Compliance to make sure that the related security agencies adjust to its decision.
