The special military task force known as Operation Safe Haven, which covers areas in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi states, has conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of 13 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, banditry, and rustling.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven, Captain James Oya, revealed that the troops were able to recover a significant amount of evidence including 279 cows, as well as illegal arms and ammunition.
The operation, which took place between October 2 and October 9, yielded positive results as the suspects were apprehended in communities falling under the jurisdiction of Operation Safe Haven.
Captain Oya stated, “Between October 2 and October 9, our troops apprehended 13 individuals involved in crimes such as kidnapping, prison breaks, drug trafficking, and rustling. We also confiscated illegal arms and ammunition.”
Additionally, Captain Oya noted that during the operation, the troops successfully recovered 279 cows and six sheep. These animals were responsible for causing damage to farmlands in Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, and Zango Kataf Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Plateau and Kaduna states.
Furthermore, he highlighted that within the aforementioned timeframe, the troops were able to thwart attempts by armed assailants to attack the communities of Washina and Razak in Mangu and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau state.
Captain Oya urged residents of the area to support Operation Safe Haven in their efforts to combat crime and criminality. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, while assuring the public that the military task force will continue to uphold fairness and justice in protecting the lives and property of law-abiding citizens.
