Consequences Await Non-performing Ekiti MDAs, Warns Governor Oyebanji

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for indolence, emphasizing that there will be repercussions for non-performance in the future.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the opening session of the Ekiti Performance Assessment and Improvement Report (EKPAIR) Workshop, the governor highlighted the need for establishing a benchmark for service and project delivery to positively impact the lives of the people of Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji stressed that merely holding meetings, processing files, and organizing programs without translating them into tangible outcomes and implementing performance measurement templates would be a waste of time. He strongly urged heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to detach emotions from their duties and perform optimally, warning of dire consequences for laxity.

Assuring workshop participants of the government’s commitment to ensuring success, Governor Oyebanji pledged to provide all necessary logistics and vowed to complete all projects before the end of his tenure.

“If we want to positively impact the lives of Ekiti people and make a meaningful difference as a government, we must set benchmarks for service and project delivery. Holding meetings and discussing files without tangible outcomes for the people is a waste of time. I have pledged my support and commitment, and there will be consequences for lack of performance,” said the governor.

In his opening remarks, Dr. John Ekundayo, the Special Adviser, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), lauded the governor for prioritizing the shared prosperity agenda and striving to improve the lives of all citizens in the state. He emphasized that the workshop would equip participants with the necessary knowledge to compile Performance Assessment and Improvement Reports, enabling the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery to gauge the progress of MDAs.

Participants expressed their commitment to implementing the lessons learned at the workshop to ensure excellent service delivery.
