Stock Market Bounces Back with 0.17% Increase

Midweek trades on the Nigerian Exchange Group Limited (NGX) ended positively as the key stock market index experienced a 0.17% increase.

After closing in the negative zone on Tuesday with losses on 29 stocks, investors witnessed the All-Share Index of listed equities inching up by 115.62 basis points. This represents a 0.17% increase, closing at 67,100.49. This is higher than the previous day’s closing of 66,984.87 points.

Additionally, the market capitalization also appreciated, increasing by N63 billion to close at N36.864 trillion compared to the previous day’s N36.801 trillion.

During Wednesday’s trading session, a total of 410.32 million shares were exchanged in 5,637 deals. The market closed with 18 gainers and 17 losers.

Among the gainers, THOMASWY saw a 9.81% increase in its share price, closing at N2.35k. DAARCOMM followed with a 9.52% gain, closing at N0.23k per share. CORNERST also made a 6.45% profit, closing at N1.65k.

Conversely, OMATEK topped the losers’ chart with an 8.33% loss in its share price, closing at N0.44k. OANDO recorded an 8.08% drop, closing at N9.10k, while AFRIPRUD recorded a 7.80% decrease, closing at N6.50k.

Overall, the stock market showed resilience and rebounded from the previous day’s losses, with investors finding opportunities for gains in select stocks.
