Insecurity: Borno govt bans mining activities

The Borno State Government has positioned a ban on all mining activities within the state, as a result of fragile safety state of affairs within the state.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, in Maiduguri on Friday.

”The state authorities is engaged on mapping and securing the mining websites with a view to making sure legislation, order and security of lives.

”Government can also be engaged on a governance protocol for the mining sector within the state,” the commissioner stated.

Tar stated the state authorities will quickly challenge a code of conduct and commonplace working procedures for the mining worth chain to information the sector.

He suggested all stakeholders within the mining sector in Borno to abide by the ban warning that “any violation will attract the wrath of the law.”
