Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Reluctant Marriage and Maternal Pressure

American actress and talk show host, Jada Pinkett Smith, has revealed a deeply personal story about her marriage to husband Will Smith. In a candid moment on her talk show, Red Table Talk, Pinkett shared that she never wanted to get married in the first place.

During the show, Pinkett unveiled the true circumstances that led to her wedding with Smith, recounting that she only walked down the aisle due to pressure from her mother after discovering she was pregnant.

Expressing her emotions about the situation, Pinkett admitted, “I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so pissed. I was crying. I cried the whole wedding.”

She went on to explain that her reluctance came as a result of her being a young actress faced with significant pressure and the added stress of an unexpected pregnancy. Pinkett stated, “I really didn’t want to get married. I was under so much pressure being a young actress and pregnant. I didn’t know what to do. But I knew I never wanted to be married.”

Highlighting the challenging circumstances surrounding their nuptials, she shared, “The wedding was horrible. I was three months pregnant at the wedding.”

In a recent development, Pinkett disclosed in a clip from her forthcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb that she and Will Smith have been living separately since 2016.
