Education Revolution: Tinubu Announces Commencement of Student Loan Scheme in January 2024

In a momentous declaration, President Bola Tinubu asserted that the era of disruptive industrial actions within Nigeria’s academic landscape has finally reached its end. This landmark announcement was made during his address at the 29th edition of the annual Nigerian Economic Summit, organized by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

During his address, Tinubu unveiled a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to transform the educational prospects of Nigerian students. He revealed that his administration’s Student Loans Scheme will commence in January 2024, marking a paradigm shift in the accessibility and affordability of higher education for the country’s youth.

“By January 2024, the new Student Loans Programme will come into effect. We are determined to ensure that the future of our children and students is free from the disruptions caused by strikes,” declared President Tinubu with unwavering conviction.

Recognizing the urgent need for broader financial inclusion, the President emphasized the necessity of implementing a robust Consumer Credit Scheme without delay. This initiative aims to provide much-needed financial support for crucial domains such as car ownership and homeownership, aligning with the government’s overarching anti-corruption and socio-economic transformation agenda.
