Flights Resume Operations at Kaduna Airport After Security Threat

After months of suspension due to a security threat, flights have finally resumed operations at the Kaduna International Airport. The airport was closed in March 2022 following a terrorist attack that posed a significant risk to passengers and personnel.

Adamu Sheikh, the Airport Manager, confirmed this in an exclusive interview with journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday. He revealed that the return of Air Peace ERJ-145, which successfully landed at the airport on Monday at 5:10 p.m., marked the resumption of flights to the route.

Sheikh further assured that additional airlines were preparing to commence operations at the airport. He emphasized that stringent security measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of aircraft during take-off and landing.

Fatima Ndayako, the Air Peace Kaduna Station Manager, explained that the airline decided to resume flights to Kaduna due to the continued requests from their customers. She also added that the airline would operate daily flights between Kaduna and Lagos.

Passengers at the airport expressed their relief and happiness over the resumption of flights in Kaduna. They called on the government and relevant agencies to prioritize the continued functionality and security of the airport.

It is indeed a significant milestone for Kaduna International Airport as it resumes flights after a challenging period of suspension. The airport authorities, airlines, and security agencies have worked diligently to ensure the safety of passengers and restore normalcy to air travel in the region. With the resumption of flights, Kaduna Airport regains its position as a vital transportation hub, connecting the city to other parts of Nigeria and beyond.
