The Bayelsa Gubernatorial Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed optimism that they will triumph over the disqualification of their candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, for the upcoming November 11 poll. In a statement issued by Mr Perry Tukuwei, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Council, the party encouraged their supporters not to be discouraged by recent developments.
The APC campaign council assured the people of Bayelsa that they are moving forward, undeterred, towards victory in the upcoming Governorship Election. They emphasized that their well thought-out “Renewed Hope for Bayelsa” agenda and the success they have achieved so far in their campaign activities across various communities have resonated with the people of the state.
“Our dear people of Bayelsa, do not fear. Do not be discouraged. We are on course with no distractions,” stated Mr. Perry Tukuwei.
The APC campaign council further revealed that their legal team is diligently handling the situation, expressing confidence that they will secure victory at the Court of Appeal. They have already filed an appeal challenging the decision of the Federal High Court that disqualified Chief Timipre Sylva from the election, and have also applied for a stay of execution of the judgment pending the outcome of the appeal.
Earlier this week, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the list of candidates for the Bayelsa election, excluding the name of the APC candidate in compliance with the ruling. However, the APC remains resolute in their determination to overcome this setback and emerge victorious in the upcoming polls.
As the election in Bayelsa state fast approaches, the APC continues to rally its supporters, assuring them that they have a strong and compelling candidate in Chief Timipre Sylva and his running mate, Joshua Maciver, who they believe will steer the state towards greater progress and development.
The residents of Bayelsa are now eagerly awaiting the Court of Appeal’s decision on the party’s appeal, which will ultimately determine the fate of the APC’s candidacy in the forthcoming election.
