The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed the number of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) collected and yet to be collected in preparation for the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.
Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee at INEC, made the announcement on Monday, with the information also being shared on INEC’s official handle.
Bayelsa State currently has a total of 1,056,862 registered voters, out of which 1,017,613 have successfully collected their PVCs. However, there are still 39,249 PVCs left to be collected by eligible voters.
In Imo State, there are 2,419,922 registered voters. Out of this number, 2,318,919 individuals have obtained their PVCs, leaving 101,003 PVCs yet to be collected.
Furthermore, in Kogi State, the total number of registered voters stands at 1,932,654. Of this figure, 1,833,160 have collected their PVCs, while 99,494 PVCs still remain uncollected.
INEC emphasized that any vote cast in excess of the number of PVCs collected would be considered as overvoting. Moreover, the number of PVCs collected will also play a vital role in the calculation of the margin of lead.
