The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to actively engage and collaborate with stakeholders to create a thriving and dynamic Aviation industry for the benefit of Nigerians.

During the inaugural meeting of the Committee on Aviation in Abuja, Hon. Eroyitomi Thomas, the Chairman of the Committee, made this promise.

He emphasized that the committee has developed a comprehensive work plan to guide its activities moving forward.

The Chairman also highlighted the committee’s key areas of focus, which include:

  1. a) Effective oversight of Air Safety Services at Airports (NSIB)
  2. b) Ensuring excellence in Schools of Aviation
  3. c) Enhancing the performance of Aviation Institutions
  4. d) Strengthening Metrological Services (NIMET)
  5. e) Reviewing the Annual Budget estimates
  6. f) Elevating the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT).

Hon. Thomas assured that the committee aims to uphold an inclusive and transparent administration, where every member is treated equally and with respect.

“As we are all aware, this Committee is a newly established entity, separate from the existing Committee on Aviation. It is a technologically advanced Committee that holds high expectations for us. We cannot afford to disappoint the House, Nigerians, and our stakeholders,” he stated emphatically.

He emphasized that the committee will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling its duties and will leverage the diverse expertise of its members to address every issue at hand.

“The caliber of members in this Committee is a testament to the seriousness with which the House leadership regards this Committee. The expectations are high,” he added.

He called on every member to work together to ensure that the Committee not only delivers on its mandates but also becomes a benchmark for excellence among the House Committees of the 10th Assembly.
