The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dung Tari, has been in captivity for 40 days since his abduction on September 23, 2023, after a party meeting.
Tari was seized while answering a phone call inside his car along the Bukuru expressway in Jos. Unidentified men in two Toyota Hilux vehicles blocked his path around 1:00 pm, forcibly took him away, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
This development has raised concerns, with the state chairman of the party, Chris Hassan, accusing the military of being responsible for the abduction during a press conference.
Tari’s fellow kinsmen are also deeply worried about the fate of the abducted PDP chairman.
Ezekiel Nyaku, Chairman of Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation in Kuru District of Jos South Local Government Area, condemned the continued detention of the PDP chairman.
Expressing his grievances, he said, “It has been over a month, and we still have no information about his location. We are uncertain whether his abduction was politically motivated, especially considering that it occurred immediately after a party meeting.”
Solomon Mwantiri, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders, informed that efforts were being made by the association to locate the abducted party chieftain.
He fervently called for the immediate release of Tari without any further delay.
