Atiku Abubakar: PDP’s Resurgence Assured, Says Bode George

In a resolute statement, Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed unwavering optimism about the party’s prospects for a resurgence.

George, known for his determination and commitment, pledged to play a pivotal role in restoring the glory days of the PDP, urging fellow party members to stand firm in the face of adversities.

The PDP faced internal divisions after its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, announced Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State, as his running mate for the upcoming 2023 presidential election.

Atiku’s decision prompted the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, along with the G-5 governors and other party stalwarts, to call for the resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the former national chairman.

Their demand for Ayu’s resignation stemmed from a desire for “regional balance,” pointing out that both Atiku and Ayu hail from the northern part of Nigeria.

Nevertheless, Bode George affirmed that concerted efforts would be made to propel the PDP forward and address any internal challenges it faces.

Speaking at the PDP general assembly in Lagos, George offered reassurances to party members that despite setbacks suffered in the previous general elections, the PDP would not be allowed to fade into oblivion.

“I implore all of you who have remained loyal to remain steadfast. We are determined to restore the party to its former glory,” he declared.

Furthermore, George stressed the necessity for the party’s national leadership to conduct a thorough post-mortem analysis in order to resolve any lingering issues that have affected the party’s cohesion.
