Power Outage Plunges Enugu into Darkness as TCN Begins Emergency Maintenance

A planned power outage is set to hit Enugu as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) embarks on emergency maintenance work. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced that the outage, scheduled for Saturday, is necessary to allow TCN engineers to carry out maintenance on their T1A 150MVA Power Transformer at their New Haven Station in Enugu.

The maintenance exercise will affect several areas, including Kingsway Line 1&2 33KV, New Haven 33KV, Government House 33KV, Independence Layout 33KV, and New NNPC 33KV feeders. As a result, customers in parts of Emene, 9th Mile and surrounding communities, New Haven, Independence Layout, Coal City Garden, GRA, Golf, areas behind the Central Bank of Nigeria, and others will experience a temporary loss of electricity supply.

Residents in Colliary, Constitution Road, Railway/Good Shed, Western Avenue, Bank Avenue, Ridge Way, Club Road, Kingsway Way Road, Enugu Secretariat, Red Cross, and Court Avenue will also be affected. Additionally, people living in Fidelity Estate, Shoprite, Golden Royale, CBN Quarters, New Market, Works Road, Aguowa, Artisan Market, Asata, New Haven Market, and surrounding areas can expect the interruption of electricity supply during the maintenance period.

Mr Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, assured customers that power supply would be restored once the maintenance is completed. He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering improved services to its esteemed customers.

This scheduled outage is part of TCN’s efforts to ensure the reliability and stability of the power grid in Enugu. By carrying out necessary maintenance work, the TCN aims to prevent unexpected power failures and minimize disruptions to the daily lives of residents in Enugu.

EEDC and TCN encourage affected customers to bear with them during this temporary inconvenience. It is advised to make alternative arrangements for power supply or take precautions to minimize the impact of the outage. Stay tuned for updates on the restoration of electricity supply.
