Gov Buni meets Chief of Air Staff, seeks increased air surveillance to crush remnant of insurgents

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, have said aerial surveillance is needed to enhance security across the state.

Buni noted that the recent attack on vulnerable locations along the state’s borders calls for enhanced surveillance.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his media adviser, Mamman Mohammed, the governor also noted that the state shares borders—both local and international—with Nigerian states and Niger Republic, necessitating aerial patrols for improved security.

“This is crucial because the gunmen who recently attacked the border villages infiltrated from outside into the state to carry out the attacks,” he observed.

Buni assured the readiness of his administration to collaborate with security agencies to strengthen the state’s defenses against potential threats. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, affirmed the force’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of every Nigerian.

He stated that the Nigerian Air Force has intensified its operations in the state and the Northeast in general to enhance security in the region.

He also called on the people to cooperate with security forces, fostering a collective and practical approach to address potential security challenges in their communities.
