College of Agriculture in Taraba State Confirms Capture of Alleged Criminal

The authorities at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology in Jalingo, Taraba State, have officially verified the capture of an individual suspected of being a criminal element that has been causing distress within the institution.

The arrest, reportedly executed on Friday night, is credited to the vigilance and swift action of the college’s security personnel.

Speaking on the development on Saturday, the Provost of the College, Yakubu Garjila, disclosed that the apprehension occurred at approximately 7 pm on the college premises.

Garjila commended the college’s security team for their proactive efforts and further revealed that the suspect has been handed over to the police for thorough interrogation and investigation.

He also highlighted the recurring loss of belongings belonging to both staff and students, attributing it to the activities of miscreants. He called on the state government to intervene by providing the institution with a perimeter fence for enhanced security.

Some students, who attested to being apprehensive even within the school hostels, emphasized the pivotal role that fencing would play in deterring or minimizing such criminal intrusion.

Although attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for comments proved futile at the time of compiling this report, a senior police officer from the Ardo-Kola division, where the institution is situated, corroborated the account of the arrest made by the college’s security personnel.
