Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Governor Duoye Diri for winning the Bayelsa State governorship election.
Recall that INEC on Monday declared that Diri polled a total of 175,196 votes to win the election, defeating other candidates, including his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who got 110,108 votes.
Reacting, Atiku congratulated the people of Bayelsa for voting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“I heartily congratulate Your Excellency, Governor Duoye Diri of our great party, and Bayelsa on his hard-fought and well-won electoral victory against all odds.
“Your reelection reflects the confidence reposed in you by your people based on your performance in your first term.
“I congratulate the people of Bayelsa who stood firmly by their votes, by the PDP, and by the Governor,” he wrote on X.
