In a recent statement, the state government expressed its commitment to collaborating with and providing maximum support to both serving and retired judges. This move is aimed at addressing the alleged neglect by previous administrations. Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, conveyed the governor’s apologies and reassurance to the judicial officers affected by the outstanding salary arrears.
Emphasizing his dedication to resolving inherited salary matters, Governor Adeleke also underscored his efforts to provide necessary logistics for serving judicial officers to enhance efficiency in justice administration and adjudication. It is clear that the welfare of judicial officers remains a top priority for the current administration.
Furthermore, Governor Adeleke urged the bar and the bench to remain focused and undistracted by potential sources of destabilization, while cautioning against the spread of misinformation through social media. Addressing recent sponsored social media publications insinuating a strained relationship between the administration and the state’s judiciary, he emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare and the welfare of judicial officers.
The governor reiterated the active resolution of financial obligations owed to judicial officers, both serving and retired, and stressed the commitment to improving the condition of service for judicial officers. Governor Adeleke affirmed, “Our commitment is to an improved condition of service for our judicial officers so that none of our serving judicial officers will have to work without the necessary incentives to enhance their performance, and none of our retired judicial officers should live in hassle and pains.”
