Former CBN Governor Emefiele Remanded in Kuje Prison

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, under the jurisdiction of Justice Hamza Muazu, has issued an order for the remand of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, Godwin Emefiele, in Kuje prison until the determination of his bail request on November 22.

During the court proceedings, Emefiele’s lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa SAN, presented the application for bail, which was opposed by Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Federal Government.

Upon hearing the arguments for and against the bail application, Justice Muazu expressed the challenge of delivering an immediate bench ruling due to the numerous legal authorities cited by the opposing parties.

The Judge expressed the need for time to thoroughly review the cited legal authorities and examine the exhibits submitted by Emefiele in support of his bail request.

As of the time of this report, officials from the Kuje prison authority have been contacted to facilitate the transportation of Emefiele to the prison.

Further details will be provided in subsequent updates.
