Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has broken his silence on the strained relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that led to his abrupt departure from the national team.
Expressing his dismay, the 41-year-old lamented that the Nigerian football governing body treated him like a “piece of used material.”
During a recent interview with Hot Sports NG, Enyeama revealed his feelings about the situation, stating, “Sincerely, I’ve not been following Nigerian football right from the day I left [resigned from the national team]. And with due respect, I was treated like a piece of used material.
“So I put up a block between me and the national team. It’s now that I’m beginning to follow what is going on. But I really put a stop to watching football, the national team. I was deeply hurt. But now I’ve moved. I can’t really say much about the national team and the goalkeeping because I’m not watching them.”
Enyeama’s resignation from the national team in October 2015 followed reported disagreements with some of the country’s top football officials.
