Customs Comptroller Urges Security Agencies to Embrace Strategic Management for Sustained Success

The Comptroller of Customs for the Katsina Area Command, Mohammed Umar, has called on sister security agencies to prioritize strategic management to ensure ongoing success in their daily operations.

Addressing participants at a seminar organized by the Katsina Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Services in collaboration with the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN) in Katsina State’s capital, Umar emphasized the pivotal role of vision, mission, and core values in attaining organizational goals.

Umar underscored the significance of partnering with institutions such as ISMN to integrate advanced methodologies into the operational frameworks of security agencies.

He articulated, “I am acutely aware of the pivotal role that strategic management plays in the success and sustainability of any organisation, be it in the public or private sector. Strategic management encompasses the process of analysing our environment, identifying opportunities, and mitigating risks. Therefore, in a constantly changing world, the ability to adapt to new challenges and leverage emerging opportunities is critical.”

Adding to the discourse, Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, representing the Katsina State Governor, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, emphasized the urgency of strategic management in addressing global and national challenges.

Danmusa highlighted the significance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and SWOT analysis, urging attendees to apply the insights gained from the seminar to drive Nigeria’s progress.

He also expressed hope that the knowledge acquired at the seminar would be instrumental in propelling the nation forward amidst multifaceted challenges.
