FCT Minister Urges Corps Members to Embrace Productivity in National Development

The closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, was graced by the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, who delivered an impassioned message to the young graduates about the importance of harnessing their talents towards productive ventures.

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud emphasized the significance of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members’ role in nation-building, urging them to focus on manufacturing and contribute towards a united and prosperous Nigeria, not just as consumers but as producers.

“Nation building and socio-economic developments are twin areas of vital importance to the country. The FCTA trusts that you, as future leaders, will channel your talents and potential towards enthroning a more united, prosperous, and productive nation that focuses on manufacturing,” she expressed.

In an encouraging tone, she implored the corps members to accept their postings with optimism and settle in quickly to begin making meaningful contributions to the nation’s growth. She reminded them of the importance of peaceful coexistence and adherence to the laws as they integrate into the FCT communities for their primary assignments.

Dr. Mahmoud emphasized, “I urge you to accept your postings in good faith and settle down quickly in order to contribute to the growth of the nation.”

Advocating for peaceful conduct, she highlighted the impact it would have on their reception by the local communities, emphasizing that a peaceful approach would endear them to the people and elicit their support throughout their service year. She left the graduates with a profound charge, encouraging them to strive for excellence, knowing that their actions today will shape the perceptions of future generations.

Reassuring the corps members of their safety, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud underscored the Federal Capital Territory’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and properties at all service locations, emphasizing the paramount importance placed on this aspect.
